MAP NUMBER: 21
DATE: 1887-1888
ORIGINAL OWNER: Alfred C. Rex
ARCHITECT: Lindley Johnson
CONTRACTOR: Henry Taylor

This Victorian confection known as "Wainwright" had
flamboyant gables and timber work, a broad curved porch,
and a three-story stone tower topped with an open porch.
Substantial alterations in the years
following Naylor's photograph have stripped it of much
of its Victorian character, and the growth of trees have all
but obscured it from the street. The carriage house still
exists in a style corresponding to the original house design.
Alterations occurred in 1895, 1919 (H. Louis Duhring,
architect), 1925 (Dreher & Churchman, architects),
1933-34 (Dreher & Churchman, architects), and 1980.
The property has been alternatively known as "Blithedell,"
"Stony Brook Farm," and today is an institution known as
"Seasons."
